On 19 September 2024 (US time) the US Department of Defense (DoD) and senior officials from the White House visited the Commercial Leap Ahead for Wide Band-gap Semiconductors (CLAWS) Hub lead, North Carolina State University, to announce the first round of project awards in the Microelectronics Commons call for projects.1
The CLAWS Hub was awarded four microelectronics projects. BluGlass has now received confirmation that the CLAWS Hub’s quantum photonics projects, of which BluGlass was a member, were not selected in this first round of funding. BluGlass and the CLAWS Hub members are eligible to apply for the next round of projects.
The Company is in negotiations with CLAWS and the Microelectronics Commons for its Years 2 and 3 core development contract, following BluGlass’ Year 1 A$2.6 million contract with CLAWS Hub lead, North Carolina State University (NCSU).
BluGlass CEO Jim Haden said “I congratulate the CLAWS Hub (of which BluGlass is a member) on this great recognition, and the award of these four Microelectronics Commons projects. While we are not a direct recipient of this project round, we look forward to assisting the Hub as needed; and continuing the leading-edge development of our quantum enabling laser technology for next-generation applications. The partnerships that we have formed with some of the world’s leading quantum pioneers on our project applications continue to benefit BluGlass”.
