What is CPV?

Concentrated photovoltaics (CPV) is a solar technology that uses lenses or mirrors to concentrate sunlight onto small, highly efficient photovoltaic cells.

By focusing a large amount of sunlight onto a smaller semiconductor area, CPV systems can generate electricity while reducing the amount of photovoltaic material required.

High-performance semiconductor materials are particularly important in CPV applications because the cells operate under highly concentrated light and elevated temperatures.
