What is n-GaN?

n-GaN is gallium nitride that has been modified, or “doped”, to contain additional free electrons.

These electrons act as negative charge carriers, which is where the “n” in n-GaN comes from.

n-GaN forms an important part of GaN semiconductor devices and is commonly used alongside p-GaN to create the electrical junction required for devices such as LEDs and laser diodes to operate.
